About

What is vote for the G.O.A.T.?

Vote for the G.O.A.T. is a friendly competition established by Plan International USA to honor and celebrate female, femme, and nonbinary people who are changing the current and future landscape of gender equality. But that’s not all--every vote in the competition supports our underlying mission: donating real goats and other life-changing Gifts of Hope to families who need them.

Nominees may fit into multiple categories but are placed into one of the following groups that best represents their cause, for the purposes of the competition:

Visibility/ Representation

These G.O.A.T.s promote realistic representation and awareness of women’s rights across industries. Issues include body positivity, media representation, industry trailblazing, working in STEM, and entrepreneurship.

Health for All

These warriors fight for things like equal access to health care, an end to inherent medical bias and discrimination, ending health disparities for LGBTQIA+ people, fair and inclusive reproductive rights, normalizing periods and menstruation, mental health awareness and support, HIV/AIDS treatment, access to safe and clean water, and disease prevention.

Equal Opportunity

G.O.A.T.s working toward equal opportunities focus on issues like the gender pay gap, paid leave from work, access to equal education and jobs, financial empowerment, LGBTQ+ rights, racial inequality, and discrimination.

Gender-Based Violence

Gender-based violence nominees may include those working to implement protections for transgender people, stop gun violence, and prevent sexual assault, child marriage, sexual trafficking, or anything else that could be considered violence against girls, women, femme, or nonbinary people.
